Until his retirement David Cook was a psychiatrist, a professional life working with people often in great distress. He is the author of three books: of poetry and thought and a 'concise, beautiful and profound' translation of Rainer Maria Rilke's Sonnets to Orpheus. He is a contributor to published anthologies of the Lansdown Poets.
